Building Regional Resilience to Environmental Challenges

Global Ties ABQ is proud to host an IVLP program on Building Regional Resilience to Environmental Challenges, this is a Regional Project with visitors from South Asia including Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. This program will focus on the following objectives outlined by the US State Department:

• Investigate how various stakeholders anticipate and develop contingency plans for natural disasters occurring as a result of climate changes;

• Examine best practices in emergency preparedness, management, planning, and coordination among federal, state, and local government and private sector organizations;

• Showcase state and local energy initiatives that promote the use of alternative energy sources, including support for alternate energy sources and new technologies for clean energy; and

• Explore public/private partnerships and programs that help communities heal from the trauma of disasters and strengthen the chances for a sustainable recovery.
