Global Ties ABQ is a member of Global Ties U.S. and one of 92 community organizations that implement the prestigious US State Department International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). More than 350 current and former heads of state worldwide, including India’s Manmohan Singh, Britain’s Margaret Thatcher, and Mexico’s Filipe Calderon have visited the U.S. through IVLP. These leaders developed close relations with the U.S. in part due to their experiences with IVLP, and the Global Ties network has played a significant role in shaping international relations for more than 75 years.
Santa Fe Council on International Relations
One of Global Ties ABQ’s closest partner organizations is the Santa Fe Council on International Relations (SFCIR). Over the past few years we have co-hosted numerous IVLP programs, allowing international visitors the chance to obtain a much deeper understanding of New Mexico.

Community Partners
When international visitors come to Albuquerque through an IVLP or other State Department programs, Global Ties ABQ arranges for them to meet local businesses, organizations, and government agencies with expertise and experience in the group’s programmatic area. Our rolodex (we recently upgraded to Salesforce) is full of contacts for nonprofit leaders, businesses, academics, and government officials who have all met with or hosted our international visitors.
