We spoke to our board member Andrew Michael Barnes about his latest professional designation. Andrew has earned the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. We talked to him about who he is, what this professional success means and how he sees his role in Global Ties ABQ.
Congratulations Andrew on this success!
- Who is Andrew Barnes?
I am a lifelong New Mexican born and raised in Las Cruces. I have been in Albuquerque for the past 25 years practicing in the accounting field. I had the privilege to attend and earn degrees from both New Mexico State University as well the University of New Mexico.
I am married to Chelsea and have been blessed with three wonderful children; Isabella, Jackson, and Cassidy.
- Why is this CPA important for you and your company?
The Certified Public Accountant designation is a culmination of a quarter century’s worth of practice that I have put into my profession. For the firm, it builds on our foundation of a high level of integrity and ethical professional services that is deeply needed in our community.
- What challenges have you faced along the way?
Two years ago, I became a partner at Kubiak Melton and Associates LLC. A partnership that has been in business in Albuquerque for the past 40 years. Being that it had been 25 years since my last university course I had a mountain of studying to climb. Only with the full support of my family could I have accomplished completing all four exams in a timely manner.
- Which organization issues CPA?
The Certified Public Accountant designation is issued and licensed by the New Mexico Public Accountancy Board in accordance with the provisions of laws in the State of New Mexico.
- What do you think would be your next challenge (you could answer about your role in Global Ties ABQ)?
My most exciting new opportunity is being a part of Global Ties ABQ and helping connect world leaders with the leaders of New Mexico in building professional skills, exchange ideas, and form partnerships within our local community and beyond.
Congratulations once again Andrew!
Thank you for your support!
