Engage with international visitors… on us!
The Bill Yarnall International Hospitality Fund invites you to host dinners for international visitors or take them to one of Albuquerque’s amazing cultural events – the Sandia Tram, an Isotopes or NM United game, a picnic at the zoo, or other activities. We will cover up to $200 of the expenses.
About the Fund
Global Ties ABQ and past board president Carol Yarnall created the Bill Yarnall International Hospitality Fund in memory of her husband and past board president Bill Yarnall. For more than 30 years, Bill and Carol hosted dinners for international visitors in New Mexico through US State Department Programs. These dinners and similar activities are important in helping visitors understand our local culture and improving international relations.
Who Can Apply? And How?
This fund targets new and younger members – students, young professionals, families, and anyone else that wants to become involved. As a member of Global Ties ABQ, you will receive regular emails listing home hospitality and liaison opportunities. When you see a group you are interested in hosting, call or send us an email. We will send you a short application and further instructions. If you are not yet a member, the first step is to visit our website and join at any level. To contact us please call (505-888-1867) or email (email@example.com).
What Does it Mean to Host?
If you are new and have never hosted a group before, no worries – we are here for you. When you sign up to be with a group, we will match you with an experienced member who will provide support. We split our groups up so the most you will have is three or four guests. We will provide you with participant bios and dietary restrictions in advance. After the event, we will help you put together a short expense report that we will use to reimburse you.
This is a great way to make friends from around the world, learn about different cultures, and get a new take on global issues. In a real way, these exchanges are why Global Ties ABQ exists.
