Since the 1980s, Global Ties ABQ’s primary objective has been hosting international visitors. In 2018, we hosted more than 443 international visitors in 44 delegations. These groups come through the International Visitor Leadership Program, Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative, and other Fee for Service initiatives that originate with the U.S. Department of State and Embassies around the world.
In 2015, Global Ties ABQ staff and board organized task force comprised of city officials, students and faculty from the Anderson School, nonprofit leaders, and others to identify our strengths and other programs we may develop for Central New Mexico.

One result of that process is our Global Innovator program, which in part provides emerging leaders from Albuquerque’s underserved and business communities the opportunity to gain global competency skills and build international networks through outbound exchange programs. Part of our Global Innovator program has been to organize local events that provide Central New Mexicans greater access to the international community. This has included conferences, speakers series, and other local events.
