Hosting virtual home hospitality
In our Global Ties ABQ office, it is very common to be welcomed by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee that embraces you in the morning. The discussions you will hear about which coffee is the best, Turkish, Brazilian, Colombian, etc., is a reflection of the diversity that lives in our office. We were not surprised by a question from a participant regarding coffee, during a virtual home hospitality session that we accommodated last month with leaders from Central and Eastern European countries. The question was, how common is it to meet in a coffee shop and hold a meeting while having a cup of coffee? You can imagine that the conversation and examples provided were diverse with participants from Kosovo, Greece, and Slovenia.
The conversations turned into topics such as the culture of the native people, museums, and the economy of Albuquerque. These are enriching experiences for all the members of our community who have had the opportunity to receive the leaders who visit us. On this occasion, we had two members of our Board, John Lewis and Jill van Nortwick, who shared their experience and opinions with the leaders.
For the people who were present, we had the learnings of the experiences that differentiate us but also the learnings of the things that bring us closer, such as enjoying a good conversation and sharing a table while we taste good coffee. As we do often at The Brew and others amazing coffee shops in downtown Albuquerque.
Three things to highlight about this home hospitality:
- The deep coffee culture in Kosovo life.
- The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is a museum you want to visit if you are in Albuquerque.
- This Friday we will celebrate Home Hospitality with the leaders participating in the MIC Science and Tech Entrepreneurship project. Looking forward to sharing with them.
There is less time left for us to have that coffee in person with our global leaders. If you would like to be part of our community, visit our website to learn more about upcoming virtual home hospitality, we invite you to subscribe to our Newsletter
