What tradition do you celebrate with your family? It was the question my young son brought home this week as homework. The first thing we did is ask him, which one do you like the most? The Three Kings, he answered. So, write and draw that one, was our message. But it does not end there, as often happens when our children’s curiosity prevails. Their next question was what other traditions are celebrated in families?
We had no choice but to enunciate what we knew as: El día de los muertos, Saint Patrick Day, Carnival, Thanksgiving, Christmas eve, New year’s eve and maybe a couple more. Recognizing our ignorance, we went to the only one who could solve it- Google, where we found this well documented article:
