A Global Ties ABQ Photo Contest and Exhibit
This year, Global Ties ABQ is hosting a photo contest and exhibit featuring your travel photographs. We want to see where you have been in 2019 and will offer prizes in three categories of photographs:
- Social Justice
Each person may enter two photographs, but only one entry per category (you will pick the category for your images). Travel can be domestic or international.
We will take submissions between June 1 and October 15. Entries submitted after 11:59 on October 15 will not be considered. Successful entries will include: an original photograph with title, photographers name and contact information, date and location the photograph was taken, and a brief 1-3 sentences describing the photograph and why it fits into the submitted category.
A panel of judges will select three finalists for each category (Economy, Culture, and Social Justice) that will be featured in a December exhibit (details on the exhibit will be announced shortly). Exhibit attendees will select the winners for each category – one vote per attendee, per category. The panel may also select photographs not chosen as a finalist to be included in the December Exhibit.
By submitting an image, entrants grant Global Ties ABQ the absolute and irrevocable right and permission to use, re-use, publish, and re-publish the photographs in displays related to the contest or promotion of Global Ties ABQ’s work. Entrants release and discharge Global Ties ABQ from any and all claims and demands arising out of or in connection with the use of the photos.
The goal behind this contest is to build community and celebrate the different places and cultures we’ve seen this year, while also celebrating all that is New Mexican. This contest is not a new idea. In the early 1990s, Global Ties ABQ (then the Albuquerque Council for International Visitors) held a similar photo contest that celebrated our ties to the global community.
We also encourage you to practice ethical photography while you are out in the world this year. Here is a good article with some important tips.
