Global Ties ABQ was one of the implementing partners for the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI), which brings the brightest, most creative entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean to U.S. cities. YLAI Fellows work with local mentors and hosts to hone their ideas and programs, learn best practices, and build their global networks.

Global Ties ABQ has hosted cohorts in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Over the past three years, YLAI Fellows have worked with MatterForm, Project ECHO, UNM Recycling, RS-21, Deep Dive Coding, and many other businesses and organizations. Several of these programs have resulted in long-term business relationships.
The Global Ties ABQ staff enjoys YLAI because we have a chance to get more time with our international visitors. During their month in Albuquerque, we get very invested in their work, to the point that we can almost do their pitches for them. It is also an opportunity for us to spend time with some of Albuquerque’s most interesting, cutting edge businesses and organizations.
