Global Themes by Local Artists

Global Ties ABQ launches the project “Global Themes by Local Artists”. Every month, Global Ties ABQ and Global Ties US network have a theme that marks the editorial line. We intend that local artists interpret the 12 themes from the point of view of our community, uniting through the artist’s gaze the local with the global. Reflecting the diversity that exists when facing each global challenge.

The pieces could be seen in digital version on our website and social media. The original pieces will be exhibited in our office, which at the end of the project will involve a series of 24 interpretations of the 12 themes with which we have challenged our local artists.

Monolith - Is a reference to Stanley Kubrick's 2001 a Space Odyssey. The phone standing as an unmoving, towering monolite to be stumbled upon and then worshiped. Signifying the beginnings of our journey to the technological singularity.
